Test Email Templates created via WPMail Editor Plus
Easily learn the multiple steps involved in testing the email templates created using WPMail Editor Plus plugin
There are three different ways to test your email templates and see how they look before you make them live.
Before you start testing, there are a few points you should be aware of
Try using a Gmail address to receive the email and check its design. This is because Gmail works 99% of the time and Gmail holds more than 70% of the market share.
If you are going to check in an email client like Thunderbird or Outlook, please make sure they are set to view the HTML content type emails. Because WooCommerce sends the emails as HTML. If your email client is set to render in text only mode, then you will not see a styled email.
Method 1: Using the Send Test Email Feature
The plugin comes with a built-in "Send Test Email" feature to test your template design. You can use this feature to test the look and feel of the email template.
Enter your email id to which the test emails should be sent and click on "Send" button.
IMPORTANT: If the "Send Test email" does not render your design correctly, please use the Method 2 or Method 3.
Method 2: By placing an order
You can consider placing an order like a customer and receive the email. NOTE: Please consider enabling and using an offline payment method like Bank Transfer so that you do not have to pay for the order you are placing.
Method 3: By manually sending the New Order Email for an existing order:
This is the easiest way of testing the email template. You can use the New Order email template for testing purposes.
The advantage of using this method is that it will run all the hooks / events attached to the order by the Email Customizer plugin and also other plugins.
Step 1:
Go to WooCommerce -> Settings -> Email Settings -> open the New Order email.
In the email settings, enter the email addresses in a comma separated format and save it.
WooCommerce sends the New Order emails only to the Recipients entered in the field.
Step 2:
Go to WooCommerce -> Orders -> Edit an order.
On the right side "Order Actions" section, choose "Re-send New order email" and click GO (the right arrow mark)
Now you should receive an email with the template you have made.
